Got Questions?

Here are a number of frequently-asked questions that we get:

How much personal time will it take?

In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, there are performances upon request for various groups, organizations and individuals. We also participate in a Sweet Adelines regional competition in March or April each year, and have an annual weekend retreat to focus on preparing for competition. We tend to perform in and around our area about 2-4 times per year for local festivals, business events, charitable events.  We have several performances during the Christmas season, one highlight being to sing at the Old Governor's Mansion in Milledgeville.

What is the audition procedure?

Attend weekly rehearsals as a guest and learn the songs "off paper."  Then when you are confident, you will sing your part in a quartet in front of select members of the Music or Management Teams.

Do I have to be a great singer?

No, and that is a great part of singing barbershop.  No one needs to be a great soloist, and there is ongoing education at rehearsals each week as well as special coaching sessions.

How do I learn the songs?

The songs are learned from learning media in CD form.  Each CD will have several tracks.  You just pop the CD into the player, and sing along!  It's like singing along to your favorite singer on the radio, just a cappella style.

What costs are involved?

We pay yearly dues which helps cover the cost of costumes, Director salary, Region and International dues for the chorus.  Costs are kept to a minimum.
